Happy Thanksgiving!
Recently Keao and I noticed that our 3 year-old, Slugger, loves to perform. She started preschool last month and because of that her repertoire of songs has grown considerably. Of course, she doesn’t like to perform without an audience. Before she starts singing, she always makes sure someone is watching. In fact, if you’re not watching, she will get your attention and exclaim, “watch me Daddy!” After she is sure she has your complete, undivided attention, the show will start. Upon completion of her song or dance, she will patiently wait for your applause. However, if you do not applaud quick enough, she will yell, “clap, Daddy, clap!” Once you start your cheering she will take a deep bow, smile and say with glee, “thank you! Thank you!”
Today, of course, is Thanksgiving. The day when we put our selfishness aside and give thanks to God and each other. Imagine that, a day set aside solely to be thankful!
Thus far, it’s been an interesting year and the start of a new season in my life, but I have so much to be thankful for. Here are some of the things that I am thanking God for today:
-My family. I am thankful for an amazing wife that supports every hare-brained idea I want to try and always encourages me when I’m feeling discouraged. She is my best friend and biggest cheerleader. Second to her, I am thankful for my two daughters, Slugger and Sunny. They consistently make me smile and always remind me to remember the wonder of discovery.
-My parents, siblings and friends. They say it takes a village and this year, it indeed took a village. My mom and dad have supported us in so many ways, watching our kids, helping us with preschool and just being there whenever we need them. My friends have also been extraordinary this year as well. Whether it was sharing a meal or sharing an inspirational word, they all played an important part in this roller coaster of a year.
There are so many other things to be thankful for like my health, the internet (I have tried so many new recipes thanks to YouTube) and living in Hawaii, but truthfully it’s all about the relationships and the people you have in your life. You take those away my life would be empty and lonely. After that, it’s all gravy.
So in all sincerity, just like Slugger would say, “thank you, thank you!” I am very grateful and appreciative for you. Now, enough of the mushy stuff. Go and watch some football and enjoy some turkey!

Thank you for sharing your life with us Scott. You are a blessing from God and I am thankful that I can list you as a friend. Vic
The feeling is completely mutual Vic! We miss you, AnnMarie and your family so much!
Happy Thanksgiving Scott and wonderful family. Very thankful to know all of you.
Thanks Greg! You are such a blessing to our family and we are very grateful for you.
Lovely blog and beautiful photos of couple of the biggest blessings you’ll ever have in life.
Thank you Ruby! We are indeed blessed.
Scott you have a wonderful family. From what I hear you have a pretty level head. I can’t imagine you coming up with “hare-brained” ideas. You definitely have to teach me how to cook Adobo. I love it… but can’t cook it.
Have a great weekend
When do you want to make adobo? I just bought some pork butt so we’re all set here (unless you like chicken).
I don’t know. Next weekend is pretty busy for us… with the Marathon and all. Then we have the following weekend free, and the weekend after that we are getting ready to leave for New Jersey.
Okay. I’ll talk to Keao and see if we can work out something before you leave. If not, there’s always 2014!
Sounds good. I think 2014 will be the year of the Adobo fest
