And Aloha Means Goodbye…Again

And Aloha Means Goodbye…Again

One of the joys of my job is getting to meet new people. Many times new people soon become new friends and as someone once told me, “friends are the spice of life”. Funny, I always thought variety was the spice of life, but maybe I’m just getting my cliches mixed up.

Anyway, a few years ago, I happened to meet a nice Navy couple from Texas that just started coming to church. They came to one activity (a board game night I think) and they never came back again (to my activities I mean, not church). Despite repeated calls, they didn’t come to MiniChurch or any other function I did (I tried hard not to take it personally). Then, one day, out of the blue, they showed up at MiniChurch and ever since then they have been some very good friends.

But like most military friends we have at some point it’s time to move on. Even though Casey is leaving the Navy to open up a Chick-fil-A he and his wife Jo are leaving the islands. In the past four or five months that they have been in our MiniChurch they have always been consistently encouraging and they have always added to our group. Jo, Casey’s wife, leaves tonight and he will be on a plane next week.

They stopped by today for one last good-bye and so we at least got to take a nice picture with them (note: Casey is so tall I think he had to contort his body so that he could fit in the frame!).

Apparently gray was the color of the day (too bad no one told Jo)

Godspeed Casey and Jo. We’ll be praying for you guys and we look forward to visiting you at your new Chick-fil-A restaurant opening this June in Laguna Nigel, California!
